The Klein family decides to rent a colorful camper van and sets off on their first camping holiday. But right after their first night, their van won't start anymore, along with a few other surprises for Leni, Maik, Mom and Dad. Then again, the caravan park has a great playground, a beach and a barbecue area. And even the girl in the red dress might be a lot nicer than they originally thought.

About the Series

The Reading Raven series is designed to encourage beginning readers by providing fun and exciting stories at each ability level, from their first efforts at reading alone to more advanced chapter books Each Reading Raven book includes reading riddles, puzzles to solve using information in the story. This is a fun way to check how well children understand what they read. The first level features short texts with lots of pictures that provide clues to the story's meaning. These books are written in extra-large print. When children are ready for longer stories, the second level of Reading Raven offers short chapter books, also in large print with illustrations that help readers follow the text. The third level is for readers who are becoming proficient, with longer chapters and increasingly complex stories, but still with accompanying pictures and highly readable print.

The Author

Susan Niessen was born in the Rhineland in 1967 and studied English, German and Psychology at the University of Bonn. She worked as an editor for several children's book publishers before becoming a freelance editor and author. She now lives on an island on the west coast of Canada and writes for children and adults.

The Illustrator

Even as a child, Stefanie Klaßen drew and painted everywhere and at all times. When she found out at the age of 7 that there was a job as an illustrator, she knew she wanted to be one! She studied illustration at the University of Applied Sciences for Design in Münster and remained loyal to the city after graduating in 2009. She works as an illustrator for various publishers. What she loves about drawing and painting is that new worlds and characters are constantly being created. In which profession can you send a crocodile with a spacesuit to the moon?
