About the Series

The WWW series stands out for its playful, enticing way of conveying just the information that kids want to know. Centered on who-what-how questions, the titles in the series explore subjects of great interest to young children. The Author

Andrea Schwendemann heads the office for magazine and book promotion in Hamburg. She develops nonfiction books and magazines for adults and children. In addition, she writes report and interviews for Spiegel Online, GEO Saison, National Geographic and other publications.
Dela Kienle is a freelance journalist. After studying in Bonn, Florence and Rome, she studied journalism and has written for the magazines GEOlino, Nido and Neon, among others. She lives in the Netherlands with her Italian husband and their two children.
Stefan Greschik studied physics in Freiburg and Berlin. He is a freelance science journalist and since 2000 has been an editor for the children’s magazine GEOlino. Stefan Greschik lives in Hamburg, Germany, with his family.
Andrea Erne was born in 1958 in Stuttgart, Germany. She studied German, politics and cultural studies and began her career as an editor for a daily newspaper. She then moved to a large children's book publisher, and later began working freelance as an editor and author for book publishers and newspapers.
Sabine Lipan was born in Bielefeld, Germany, in 1958. After her studies leading to teacher certification, she was a German teacher, editor, freelance journalist and writer. She began writing successful children's books in 2000.
Susanne Gernhäuser, born in Nuremberg in 1966, studied history and German language and literature at the University of Stuttgart. During her studies, she worked at the Historical Institute, where she published several essays and worked for a schoolbook publisher. Later, she was responsible for the regional studies book program at a Stuttgart publishing house. Since the birth of her two sons, she has been working as a freelance editor for various publishers and has written numerous books for Ravensburger Buchverlag. She lives near Lake Constance.

Carola von Kessel worked as an editor for children’s and horse books before starting to write her own stories. She currently writes freelance for various publishers. She lives on a former farm on the Lower Rhine with her husband, her daughter and a number of horses.

The Illustrator

Jochen Windecker, born in 1971, first trained as a painter and varnisher before studying communication design. Since 2002 he has been a freelance graphic designer. He has already worked with numerous German publishers.
Rolf Bunse studied graphic design in Aachen, where he lives with his wife and three children. He is especially happy that his current work is exactly what he has always wanted to do.
Anne Bernhardi was born in Leverkusen in 1981. It has always been clear to her that texts and pictures belong together. And as she discovered her enthusiasm for drawing at the age of five, she soon knew that she wanted to become an illustrator. After studying illustration at HAW Hamburg, she finally turned her passion into a career. Since then, the illustrator has been inspiring children and young people with her drawings. If she can continue to draw, write and spend a lot of time with her two dogs and loved ones in the future, then she will have achieved her dream of happiness. She illustrates titles in the "Why? Why? Why? -ProfiWissen" series for Ravensburger.


Tobias Pahlke, born in 1974, studied communication design in Hamburg. Following stints in advertising and trade fair construction, he has been a freelance illustrator since 2009. He prefers to work “analog” rather than digitally, with watercolors, acrylics and pencils, and works for newspapers as well as publishers of children’s books, textbooks and nonfiction. Tobias Pahlke lives in Hamburg.
