Content

When children have colds or fevers, it helps to get lots of rest so the fever can fight off the germs that made them sick. But if they are not better after a few days, the children have to go see the doctor. This book shows how the doctor listens to your chest and back with her stethoscope, how she looks into your ears and mouth, and even takes a blood sample. The sensitive explanations help soothe youngsters’ fears.
But why do healthy children have to go to the doctor, too? The most important aspects of a check-up are introduced: the doctor carefully inspects the body, checks to make sure children can see and hear well, and that their motor skills are developing properly. The book addresses questions about staying healthy, showing that plenty of exercise, eating healthy foods, washing your hands and brushing your teeth after eating are all important.
Finally, young readers can take a peek inside a pediatrician’s doctor’s bag containing all the instruments used by real doctors.
